Move over deconstructed coffees and avocado lattes (yes, that really happened). This season is all about the Coff-Tails!

Okay, so we made the word up, BUT feel free to run with it for your cafe 😉

Coff-tails can be virgin or alcoholic (past noon or for your evening trade), and we’ve found 10 weird and wonderful Coff-tail ideas to get you started on the ultimate caffeinated summer menu.

  1. The Amaretto Shakerato: Cold drip, a shot of Amaretto liqueur, a teaspoon of sugar syrup and 6-7 ice cubes in a shaker. Shake vigorously for about 15 seconds. Serve in a glass, either with the ice or strain the cubes out.

  2. The Maria Martini: 40ml Coffee Vodka, 15ml Tia Maria, 5ml sugar syrup and 20ml espresso – shake all ingredients with ice, strain into a martini glass.

  3. The Fiery Martini: Chocolate syrup into bottom of chilled martini glass and place in fridge during preparation. Add cocktail coffee, vodka, sugar syrup and chilli powder to cocktail shaker – no ice. Dry shake rigorously. Transfer into chilled martini glass.

  4. The Cinnamon Spice: 60ml chilled espresso or cold drip, 45ml Tequila, 100ml coconut milk, 30ml cinnamon syrup or sugar, 1tsp turmeric powder and ¼ tsp ginger powder. Add ice and all ingredients to cocktail shaker. Shake well. Pour into short glass over ice.

  5. The Coco Loco: 1 shot of chilled espresso or cold drip, 40ml vodka, 10ml Kahlua, 50ml coconut water, 45ml coconut milk and 10ml sugar syrup. Place all the ingredients into a cocktail shaker and add ice. Shake vigorously and double strain into martini glass.

  6. The Hot Jamaican: 50ml dark rum, 50ml coffee liqueur, 300ml hot espresso, 2 tablespoons whipped cream. Pour rum and coffee liqueur into a glass. Fill glass with hot coffee. Top with a generous dollop of whipped cream.

  7. The New Fashioned: 50ml tequila, 10ml bitter vermouth, 60ml chilled espresso or cold drip and a teaspoon of maple syrup. Shake well. Pour into short glass over ice.

  8. The Matcha Maker: 1 tsp matcha green tea powder, 120 ml coconut water, 60 ml Midori, 45 ml cold brew or chilled espresso. Combine matcha powder and coconut water in a cocktail shaker and shake. Add Midori, coffee and ice, shake well. Strain into a tall glass over fresh ice.

  9. The Bean Fairy: 2 shots cold espresso, 1 tsp absinthe, 45 ml gin. Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake vigorously and strain into a glass.

  10. The Cafe Citron: 30ml chilled espresso or cold drip, 30ml Gin, 90ml tonic water, orange slice (to garnish). Add coffee and gin to a glass, add ice and stir. Top with tonic water, squeeze the orange slice then drop it into the glass.
